The R&D objectives of NFRDI are to:

• raise income of fisherfolk and elevate the Philippines;
• make the country’s fishing industry in the high seas competitive;
• conduct social research on fisherfolk families; and
• coordinate with the fisheries schools, LGUs and private sector on the maximum use of technology.
