BFRDC is located at Lala, Lanao del Norte. From the 28-hectare pond facilities, the Center utilizes more or less 10 hectares for its use. Fifty-six research ponds are now developed and improved to suit farming research activities.
The research center consists of ten rectangular concrete tanks that measure 2 meters by 5 meters by 0.6 meters, as well as twelve circular concrete tanks with a diameter of 2.5 meters and a depth of 0.6 meters. Additionally, there is a wet laboratory building dedicated to breeding research activities, and a small storage area designed to house the necessary inputs for the research projects carried out at the center.
A newly constructed administration building with a floor area of more or less 180 sq. m. was inaugurated on January 30, 2009.
The Center has made great strides on various research and development activities on the conservation and protection of Panguil Bay.

- Capacity training program for students of fisheries and related courses
- Technical assistance related to aquaculture farming systems to fish farmers and private sector
- Training on mature aquaculture technologies to fisherfolk, cooperators, students and entrepreneurs.
- Assistance to allied agencies in their extension programs
