The Freshwater Fisheries Research and Development Center (FFRDC), one of the research centers of the Department of Agriculture – National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (DA-NFRDI), received a “Plaque of Commendation” and an “Award of Partnership for Student Development and Excellence” from Nasugbu East Senior High School during the Project Immersion Gala Night held on March 6, 2026, in Nasugbu, Batangas.

The recognition highlights FFRDC’s valuable contribution and continued support as a partner agency in mentoring Senior High School (SHS) students through the school’s work immersion program.

Janet Baral, chief of the Training and Extension Section of NFRDI-FFRDC, accepted the awards on behalf of DA-NFRDI. During the event, she also presented a “Medal of Excellence” to selected students who demonstrated outstanding performance during their work immersion and successfully completed an 80-hour training at FFRDC in Butong, Taal, Batangas under the NFRDI Students’ Training Support (STrainS) program.

Organized by Nasugbu East Senior High School, the event recognized partner and cooperating agencies for their support and guidance to student trainees throughout their work immersion for School Year 2025–2026. It gathered more than 400 participants composed of partner agencies, cooperators, guests, teachers, and students.

STrainS is an immersion and internship initiative for junior high school, senior high school, and college students seeking training opportunities at NFRDI. The program provides real-world learning experiences that help prepare students for their transition from the classroom to professional careers. ### (Karen May Bo)
