In celebration of the Department of Agriculture’s 127th founding anniversary, the DA-National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) joined the week-long expo held on June 23 – 26, 2025, at the DA Central Office grounds in Diliman, Quezon City.

Visitors at the NFRDI booth were introduced to various technologies generated from its research and development (R&D) initiatives, including oyster culture using bamboo raft technology, market assessment of atsarang dampalit (pickled sea purslane), and grow-out culture methods for tilapia and catfish (hito).

Japanese koi fish were also distributed to visitors. In addition, various informational materials—including brochures, posters, and publications—were handed out to raise awareness and promote understanding of NFRDI’s ongoing fisheries R&D initiatives.

With the theme “DA@127: Kaisa ng Magsasaka’t Mangingisda Tungo sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas,” the event brought together DA agencies, stakeholders, and the general public to highlight efforts in strengthening the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

Through its participation, NFRDI was able to share its research outputs and reach more stakeholders, and reaffirm its support for the DA in achieving food security and ensuring sustainable livelihoods in the fisheries sector. ### (Ann Dominique del Valle)
