Three Bachelor of Library and Information Science students from Cagayan State University (CSU) completed their 150-hour internship under the Students’ Training Support (STrainS) program of the DA-National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI).

Mary Jean Villafuerte, Jovelyn Trinidad, and Sheine Saquing gained hands-on experience in managing information resources and delivering efficient library services at NFRDI’s Library Unit.

“We have just seen manual libraries, but with NFRDI, everything has transitioned to digital, making it more advanced,” Saquing shared, emphasizing the significance of modern library systems in their training. The students presented their accomplishments, including the learnings and the impact of the activities on their professional and personal growth, during the closing program held on February 28, 2025, at the NFRDI-TD Studio, Quezon City.

Kevin, CSU internship coordinator, expressed his gratitude to NFRDI for accommodating their students once again. He emphasized that NFRDI’s library advancement is different from others and that they really are looking for quality libraries that can help their students learn and somehow apply their learnings in their future careers.

Facilitated by the Training Division (TD), STrainS program provides internship opportunities for high school and college students in the Philippines who wish to receive training from NFRDI.

Training Section Chief Cyrenes Moncawe, Library Unit Head John Paul Combalicer, and other mentors from the Library Unit attended the program. Joey Caser, STrainS program coordinator, also participated as the event’s emcee. ### (Joey Caser)
