The DA-NFRDI, in collaboration with BFAR Region 3, had conducted a training and focus group discussion (FGD) on Fisheries Vulnerability Assessment Tool (FishVool) Data Validation and Mapping for Tarlac Province on July 15, 2021 in BFAR Provincial Fisheries Office, Paraiso, Tarlac City, Tarlac.
Information and perception of the 15 provincial leaders on vulnerability of the province’s capture fisheries and aquaculture to climate change impact were gathered. The information will be used to developing a climate change vulnerability map of the province. The resulting map will help identify areas and communities that would most likely be impacted by climate change. It will also provide information for policy makers and local managers on how to improve the fisheries sectors in terms of lowering sensitivity and improving adaptive capacity to make areas and communities less vulnerable to climate change.
Representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculture, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Stock Assessment Program, Provincial Fisheries Office, academe and SUCs, FARMC and industry leaders and other stakeholders were the participants to the event. (GJACalderon)
